Saleem Chagtai, supposedly of Mongol descent, is well know for his ...err .. trend setting brand of humour.
"As long as I'm Entertained" is his self-proclaimed motto.
But for a while he had problems with his niyyah. He attempted to attribute a number of brothers as his students with the intention of strengthening his "madhab al-humorr" and removing any claims that he had any contemporaries of any significance. So for a while his niyyah was to belittle others and increase favour upon himself - when he had no real need to - but this was a dark time of Saleem's life and thus the phrase was coined:
"As long as I'm Impressed"
Later on, someone switched the light on saw the scam that was going on and Saleem had to repent and return to his unadulterated usul - "As long as I'm entertained". Fortunately for him he has been as humourous as before and we pray the dark moments never return.¹

We have here a creature who likes to be around others, his (albeit predictable) behaviour tends to bring people towards him. Sometimes, the other species would take his company just to laugh with him and raise their spirits.He likes indoor environments and eats most things which Mozlems tend to eat.
He used to defend his brother in fights at school; the latter thanks him by saying "you never let me fight my own battles"....perhaps that was because he would have chickened out of any fight anyway. His brother (an IC wannabe) is also a Saudi wannabe who goes around the two Holy Sanctuaries pretending to be a wahhabi Shaikh....sad isn't it?

Saaaleem is dubbed the aal-moojaaadid of aal-dhahakia aal-imberialia. Though he was with Hizboo Taahreer for 5/6 of his tenure at Imperial College, he still accomplished a lot. For prior to that, the greatest feat achieved by the waahaabee salaaafee wing of the Izlaaaamic Society was to walk all the way to Heathrow Airport from South Kensington!!

He seems to be able to judge intentions, something even the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) couldnt even do...therefore the question is asked "is this shirk?"....Shouldn't Anwaar us-sabeel cover this issue? Perhaps the origin of this lies in the fact that a non-IC chap by the name of Asif Uddin adopted the manhaj and was willing to learn and develop. This may have led to a feeling of being spurned. Even though Asif still needs to develop, his compliance to the manhaj is to be respected. Take note Mahmud, the manhaj is meritocratic just cos ur from IC wont get u anywhere by itself!
This should be enough to dispel the false accusations, i have always akcnolwedged Asad and Shafiq to be comedy greats with their own unique styles which entertain me no end. But then again, Mahmud's perception of reality has always been questioned especially since he has a terrible memory and this would affect his understanding of past events.....
